Parenting Is Hard! OC Housewives Edition
Thursday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” (S05E10) was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. In what essentially became a exposé on parenting gone awry, we were presented with two very different parenting styles. First, we got to see that Vicki shames her daughter in front of employees for bouncing a check months earlier. Vicki the Spray-tanned...

New Content
I’ve reblogged more than created original content lately. For this I am ashamed. So here’s some new stuff, courtesy of me.
The last week and a half has been an interesting one. I didn’t get the job in D.C. but that company passed my info on to similar companies in the area and I got a call on Monday. That led to an interview on Thursday that, well, was absolutely horrible. I...

Raise Awareness, Raise the Love
There are three things in this world that I love: otters, penguins and days that celebrate penguins. So imagine my delight when I looked at my calendar to discover it’s National Penguin Awareness Day! From my friend Dave, his latest blog post:
Last year on this day, the United States of America celebrated a highly momentous occasion—a day that, regardless of how you feel about the year...

Six Minutes to Midnight
Good news, people! The clock ‘til nuclear annihilation has been set back a minute due to a “more hopeful state of world affairs”.
Most recently, in January 2007, the clock moved to five minutes to midnight, when climate change was added to the prospect of nuclear annihilation as the greatest threats to humankind.
The concerns then included Iran’s nuclear ambitions and...
Today, I was watching Jeopardy and one of the categories was “That’s...

Frozen Iguanas Fall From Florida Trees - -... →
Lizards/Iguanas falling out of trees = My worst nightmare. I am pass out-ly (as opposed to deathly) afraid of lizards. If one of these frozen things were to fall on me, even dead, I would scream. How horrifying.
lencheto:
Iguanas, I know how it is. I too awoke in a cold stupor this morning, although at least I had not fallen off a tree. Physically, at least. Mentally, I am off a cliff (or...
The Natural Crackle
Me: I need to build a fire to ease my mind.
Dave: Sounds like a good idea.
Me: [10 minutes later] We'll see how well that catches.
Dave: Wood still being uncooperative?
Me: Yeah, it's too fresh and the pieces are too big. Dad's suppose to bring some home from the Market but hasn't yet.
Dave: Ahh. You use starter logs, yes?
Me: I wouldn't exactly call them logs.
Dave: Starter pellets?
Me: Not pellets, just some really bad fire starters. The rage now is to use crackle logs. Well guess what? I like to build ACTUAL FIRES! I do not need a log that changes colors and "crackles" because I have real wood that does that.
Dave: Uhhhh, wow.
Me: My favorite color? Ember red! You should check it out, it's pretty hot.
Dave: Hehehe.
Me: And scene.

This Week in Football: Anger, Will Robinson!
A few fun facts when it comes to the NFL and me as of this season:
I will never, ever like the Indianapolis Colts after they decided to take the day off and let the New York Jets regain playoff hope on December 27, 2009.
I will never, ever believe in the Cincinnati Bengals to get the job done after they let the New York Jets have an easy win and weasel into the playoffs on January 3, 2010,...

Can You Hear Me Now?
Ah, parents. Can’t live without them, am I right? (Technically I am since no one could be alive without parents. I love being right. You should know this by now.) Having moved back home in May due to unemployment, I have become reacquainted with my parents and all of their annoyances, like smoking in the house, inability to use a computer, and setting a curfew for their 25-year-old daughter...
Err on the Side of Charity →
It’s a new decade, folks, so let’s start by doing our part to help others.
lencheto:
If you’re looking for a good cause to donate to, please consider getting in touch with my friend Mike Goddard. Mike is one of the most amazing men you could know, and after working for the Peace Corps in Bulgaria for 2 years, he is now on to a new mission. Check out the info about his sports clubs...
